Inmarsat satellite network
High-capacity voice and data from geostationary satellites. The backbone of maritime safety services and BGAN field broadband.
Inmarsat
Geostationary reliability, business-grade.
How the network works
Inmarsat operates a fleet of geostationary satellites parked over the equator. From the ground each one looks fixed in the sky, which gives big, stable spot-beams ideal for higher-bandwidth voice and data. Coverage extends to about 76° north and south.
Where Inmarsat fits
- Maritime communications and safety (FleetBroadband, GMDSS)
- Broadcast contribution and field journalism (BGAN)
- Disaster response and emergency backup
- Land-mobile broadband for vehicles and bases
- Aviation broadband (SwiftBroadband, Jet ConneX)
