Iridium is the only network with complete global coverage — including both polar regions — because its 66 satellites talk to each other rather than to regional ground stations.
Service is disabled in North Korea (US trade embargo). Some countries restrict possession or use of satellite equipment — check with the destination's embassy before you travel.
